Derwent Barracks
Southern Plumbing recently upgraded the ageing sewer and stormwater infrastructure at the Derwent Army Barracks in Glenorchy to meet current standards, prevent future cross-contamination and ensure safe and reliable water supply across the site.





Works Completed
Sewer Network Upgrade
Assessment, replacement and upgrade of ageing sewer infrastructure to improve reliability and prevent contamination across the site.
Stormwater & Environmental Protection Works
Construction and upgrade of stormwater infrastructure including new outlets, grated pits, manholes, and multiple Gross Pollutant Traps (GPTs) to manage site runoff and protect the River Derwent from contamination.
Water Supply & Backflow Prevention Upgrades
Replacement and upgrade of water service connections, including conversion from low-hazard to high-hazard RPZD assemblies to ensure compliant backflow protection.
Wash Bay Oil & Water Separation
Installation and upgrade of oil and water separator systems servicing wash bays, including additional units to accommodate increased capacity and first-flush separation requirements, preventing hydrocarbon discharge to stormwater and sewer systems.
Pumping Station, Testing & Compliance Documentation
System testing, commissioning, and delivery of full compliance and handover documentation.
